Think we imprison too much and over-punish? New York criminologist Barry Latzer discusses the myths and facts

Dr. Barry Latzer, Emeritus Professor of Criminal Justice at the City University of New York was interviewed by the Aristotle Foundation, about his new book, The Myth of Overpunishment. The data indicate, contrary to the critics, that we don’t imprison too many, nor do we overpunish.. Claims of systematic racism are also exaggerated. Barry Latzer has some insight and proposals for reform, including more “e-carceration.”
