Employment Opportunity: Policy Liaison Officer

Aristotle Foundation
October 3, 2025

The Aristotle Foundation for Public Policy is an educational and public policy think tank based in Canada that champions reason, democracy, and civilization. We seek to anchor Canadian public life in reality via facts and informed history.

To amplify our research and connect it to students, parents, teachers, policymakers and others, we are hiring a Policy Liaison Officer. This will be a key strategic hire for us as we are an educational charity that seeks to mass market excellent ideas that will educate and inform the public, not least of which young people.

The successful candidate will be tasked with finding and connecting with parents and student groups, other associations and advocacy groups, and any and all organizations interested in making a positive impact on Canada but who may not have relevant research resources readily available to them.

The Policy Liaison Coordinator would thus seek out and engage teachers, students, parents, schools, community groups, and policymakers to make them aware of evidence-based, balanced educational materials. The coordinator would also track outreach impact (e.g., number of parents reached, materials distributed, etc.).

The ideal way to think about this position is that the Aristotle Foundation for Public Policy is a “wholesaler” of published research including studies, surveys, books and more, as well as commentaries, videos, and social media infographics. The Canadians we wish to reach via this position are the potential “retailers.” They are individuals or groups who, once made aware of our work, can take our already-accessible content off our virtual “shelf” and inform themselves and others on a variety of issues.

This role is focused on making our research accessible and known to students, professors, teachers, and others, including potential curriculum designers but ultimately to all Canadians potentially interested in our work. It focuses on collaboration and it offers and requires clear deliverables in terms of individuals and groups reached annually.

Required skills:

  • Proven public speaking abilities
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in popularizing (making accessible) our published research and other public work to a wider audience
  • A strong desire to connect with others as this is not a “behind the scenes” research position
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple outreach projects
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to summarize data and research concisely and compellingly
  • Strong proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Track record of working alongside senior leaders at an organization (this role will require close cooperation with the president and director of research)

Duties include:

Pro-active outreach

  • Seeking out a variety of organizations to make them aware of Aristotle Foundation research and maintaining ongoing, updated lists of the same
  • Email and personal notices to interested organizations and people about our work once published
  • Travel at least one week a month to meet people and organizations in person

Other

  • Other duties as assigned, including assisting other staff.

In addition to the above, our ideal candidate:

  • grasps why freedom and responsibility both matter—i.e., the notion of ordered liberty
  • is familiar with public policy, including but not limited to education policy, Canadian history, free inquiry, free expression, and individual rights
  • is goal-oriented and mission-oriented
  • can work independently but is cooperative, communicative, and a team player
  • is aligned with the Aristotle Foundation’s vision, mission, and research priorities
  • is described by referees as having character
  • believes that every person has dignity and worth and should be free to flourish
  • is committed to excellence, willing to work hard, highly competent in the skillsets required for this position, and intends to be committed to the Aristotle Foundation’s success and to a positive impact as we all seek to renew a free, flourishing country for all Canadians.

Other qualifications:

  • You must be legally allowed to work in Canada. You must also reside in Canada.

The position:

  • Full-time, starting December 1, 2025.
  • Compensation dependent on experience and qualifications. Upon successful completion of the trial period of employment, compensation can include health care and pension benefits.
  • You will report to the Development Manager but work with other staff.
  • This position can be remote but a Calgary-based employee is preferred.
